After listening to Amos Lee's new CD I was surprised to hear something different. His high pitched voice can out and what a different thing to hear from Lee. I certainly look forward to hear more from this fine artist.
He exhibits more originality and creativity than in his earlier CD's; how often can you say that about a singer/songwriter. I love Amos Lee. This artist is awesome in that some of his songs hook you the first time you hear them. His music transports me to a good place. Unique voice.
Love this CD. Mixing Won't Let Me Go and Ease Back on the same CD was complicated. Glad that he daringly added his Soul roots onto this record. I hope he does a whole CD of deep Soul and Blues with falsetto and that wonderful grainy voice. Then I also hope he does a CD that is more single genre in Folk like Supply and Demand. I love both and wish to hear all sides of this amazing Troubadour, perhaps in separate records.Of course, this is HIS dream and I support it wholeheartedly however he does it. I listen to it often and play/sell it in our gallery - sells out every month.Forever Fan
This was my first Amos Lee cd, and I bought it after hearing "Listen" and "Street Corner Preacher" featured on my local NPR station. It sounded like a lot of bland adult contemporary radio music out there, and as a result I stashed Last Days of the Lodge down on the bottom shelf of my collection. The soulfulness of Amos Lee's vocals reminded me of Ben Harper, so I was looking forward to good things. I was disappointed at first listen, as the rest of the album lacked the urgency of the two tracks I had heard. I pulled it out a few months later to give it one more spin before I traded it in at the used cd store, and I was amazed. I connected with every track, even ones that I had thought were kind of cheesy before like "Won't let me go." Amos Lee just has a very natural groove, so I would definitely give this one a chance.
Amos Lee was sent from wherever they send "the singers" to grace us with his sweet and smooth as melted butter voice. There are just a few in the world like this. He sings like an angel. He can't do anything wrong when he is using that voice of his. Dolly, Barbra, Pavarotti (sp)., a few others. Simply perfection.
